If Senators Lindsey Graham and Chuck Schumer (D-NY) get together to discuss anything, it can’t be good for We the People…

According to an article by Carrie Budoff Brown of the Politico, Graham and Schumer are busy laying the groundwork for “comprehensive immigration reform” which is code for “amnesty.” The reform which is needed is to actually acknowledge the word “illegal” when attached to the word “immigration” and enforce the freaking law!

How on earth could they believe this will fly?

Democrats believe the November elections put a bit of a scare into Republicans, who failed to capture the Senate in part because of strong Latino turnout in California, Nevada, Colorado and Washington. If the GOP hopes to win the White House in 2012, it will need to reverse that trend.

Yes, many of them do think that way but it is amazing that this same article points out:

Naturally, supporters of a comprehensive overhaul are hopeful but realistic. Some were reluctant to even talk about the preliminary discussions, saying publicity about their delicate efforts could prove harmful.

As much as the liberals want to paint a rosy picture, they know the Tea Party is still paying attention and they know the Tea Party was responsible for turning over Congress and they know the Senate is going to take hard hits in 2012 and 2014.

So, who else is going along with this? Senator John McCain will play ball on this if border security is accomplished first. Other groups on board are not surprising (Service Employees International Union and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce), but what about the “conservative evangelicals” the article claims are on board?

“Conservatives are hacked off with Schumer for so many reasons,” said the Rev. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics and Religious Liberty Commission, who supports comprehensive immigration reform. “Both carry baggage. There need to be some new faces that carry” the issue, such as Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.).

Not only are they trying to gain the support of Rubio, they are also going back after Lisa Murkowski of Alaska who voted for the DREAM Act and they believe South Carolina’s Lindsey Graham is just the person to lock all this up.

Graham’s return gives the discussion a bipartisan sheen that it has lacked since last April, when he dropped out of the talks, angered by Reid’s decision to move an immigration bill ahead of a climate change bill.

How about those priorities? The Global Warming Scam… sorry… Climate Change should obviously be more important than granting amnesty, right? Well how about this for a claim; Illegal Immigration is greatly contributing to Global Warming. Just imagine how much we could reduce carbon emissions in this country if we have 15 – 20 million less people! Save the planet and deport them now!

So just how far along is this Comprehensive Immigration Reform?

“It’s in the infant stage,” Graham told POLITICO. “I don’t know what the political appetite is to do something.”

So, how’s your appetite for amnesty?

Michelle Malkin address this question and declares it “dead” … for now.
++++++++++++++++++++

From the interestingly named FireAndreaMitchell.com is this breakdown of language contained in HR5281:

Extends such conditional status for an additional five-year period if the alien: (1) has demonstrated good moral character during the entire period of conditional status; (2) is not inadmissible or deportable under the terms of this Act, has not participated in racial, religious, social, or political persecution, and has not been convicted of certain federal or state offenses; (3) has not abandoned U.S. residency; (4) has earned an IHE degree (or has completed at least two years in a bachelor’s or higher degree program) in the United States, or has served in the Armed Forces for at least two years (or if discharged, was honorably discharged); and (5) has provided a list of each elementary school attended in the United States.

and more. This is not getting a lot of notice, and perhaps it’s because it’s a non-starter. But we must stay vigilant.

When will we have a Christmas season that is not fraught with peril from our own government?

Yes, the PRO-amnesty folks were 5 votes short of the 60 needed. But I can pick several NO votes that could’ve gone the other way. And if any two had done so — especially if they had done so a couple of weeks ago — at least three other votes would have gone with them and we would have lost.

From Numbers USA … a LONG list of calls. Do what you can today. You see what your calls did last night re: the Omnibus Bill.

TODAY (FRI.) IS YOUR LAST DAY
TO STOP DREAM ACT AMNESTY

Sen. Reid Is Shoe-Horning Vote on Saturday Morning
As Other Senate Efforts Are Falling Apart

PLEASE PICK UP YOUR PHONE TO COUNTER
THE GIANT SURGE OF PRO-AMNESTY LOBBYING

Here Are Today’s Target Lists For Phoning

Sen. Reid’s change of plans was announced suddenly Thursday evening.

Does that mean he thinks he has the 60 votes to pass this amnesty? Not necessarily. Our NumbersUSA whip count says he doesn’t have the votes. But votes could change over the next 24 hours under the barrage of last-minute personal appeals from poster-child illegal-alien students and groups of local clergy all saying the amnesty is a moral requirement. Pres. Obama put out an appeal for clergy to help him round up the last votes needed.

So, the moment of truth is upon every one of us. Will we rise to the occasion and help our allies in the Senate defeat this amnesty?

Your most important phone calls are to your own two Senators.

Following are the lists that show the kinds of calls each Senator needs to get.

TOP PRIORITY: Encourage These 12 Senators
To Stick With Leanings or Pledges To Vote NO

This is the group that we HAVE to win. Fortunately, they are all leaning toward voting NO and their staff may even be saying they probably will vote NO. But our allies in the Senate don’t feel absolutely sure of these votes. The dozen Senators are under enormous lobbying pressure intended to make them feel inhumane if they vote NO.

Give them quick phone calls to thank them for their intention to vote NO on the DREAM Act amnesty. And note that a key reason they are right is that DREAM provides zero enforcement to stop future millions of illegal workers from coming and taking jobs from hard-pressed Americans.

2nd PRIORITY: Pound These 3 Senators Up For Re-Election in 2012 Who Are Leaning YES on Amnesty

There is no logical political reason for these Senators to vote YES on amnesty . . . if the people of their states know what they are doing. All three of these have good tendencies in our direction on amnesty in the past. But they are acting like this amnesty is somehow different.

Your job with these Senators is to persuade their staffs that voting for an amnesty without any enforcement will definitely be a key issue in the 2012 elections during what all experts predict will be continuing high unemployment for U.S. workers.

All three of these are Democrats in states that swung heavily Republican in last month’s elections. A vote for amnesty might look like political suicide.

3rd PRIORITY: These 3 Senators Do NOT Face 2012 Re-Election But Are On The Fence And Leaning YES

All three of these have voted with us against amnesty in the past.

Tell their staffs that you don’t understand how the Senator could oppose “comprehensive immigration reform” in the past when amnesty and enforcement were wrapped together, but now they are willing to pass an amnesty with NO enforcement.

4th PRIORITY: These 6 Senators Lean Strongly YES On Amnesty But Will Have To Face Voters In 2012

Most of these Democrats have had very little interest in hearing from us in the past.

But after last month’s cataclysmic results, these Senators find themselves in states where they could have a really competitive race in 2012. Thanks to all of you who phoned them today. Now, we need another round of calls telling them how much an amnesty vote Saturday will be like an albatross around their necks during the 2012 campaigns.
