Yesterday I taped an interview with Stephen Green at PJTV regarding the recent victory by South Carolina Tea Parties in convincing all 13 GOP representatives who were co-sponsoring the Health Exchange Bill to remove their names. If you’re not familiar with PJTV it is an online TV network with a decidedly conservative programming, many big names in the blogosphere, the twitterverse, and other media venues. Folks like Dana Loesch, Glenn Reynolds, Stephen Kruiser, Stephen Crowder (don’t know them? obviously you’re not online enough!)

PJTV has videos that can be viewed for free, videos that can be viewed if you sign up for a free registration and some videos which are available for viewing for a $5.00 monthly fee. You can view up to FIVE videos each month I believe before being asked to register for free. That means …. you can go right now and watch my interview! (Sorry I can’t embed the video here)

Go here – Tea Party Unrest with ObamaCare in South Carolina

Hope you like it! I was nervous NOT about the cameras or interview but hoping that none of my dogs would bark during it, nor any of my cats would walk across my laptop screen!

According to BigGater5 at Redstate, Governor Rick Scott is stopping Florida from making preparations to implement the federal health care law.

“I personally have always believed that it was going to get repealed or declared unconstitutional because I think it’s a significant job killer. So one thing we’re doing here is we are not going to spend a lot of time and money with regard to trying to get ready to implement that until we know exactly what’s going to happen.”

and Greg Sargent at the Washington Post reports:

The office of Wisconsin Attorney General J.B. Van Hollen, one of the states suing to overturn the Affordable Care Act, sends over this statement flatly declaring the law “dead” for his state unless it’s revived by a higher court, and asserting that this relieves state government of any and all its responsibiilties to implement the law.

What say you Governor Haley and AG Wilson? You know what WE want you to do!

When Trey Gowdy won the District 4 Congressional seat I told my pals and peers “What I hope to see from Trey Gowdy is that he is one of the Representatives being talked about for doing the right things boldly and quickly.”

I saw this blog today at Verum Serum and it made me sick and angry. “HOW are they getting away with this? Who will stop them?” We’ve been reading for months that organizations and individuals in favor with Obama’s administration are being waivered out of the Health Care bill.

There were 222 such waivers approved in November. That number has now jumped to 729 through the end of December. The total number of people covered by the waivers has gone from 1.5M to just under 2.2M. The list includes the usual assortment of union locals and businesses. I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to suggest that OCIIO was asked to hold this development until after the SOTU.

I bookmarked that article to share with you today, but wanted to think about it for a while so I could find some action item or something to take the edge off my anger, to make it something we could DO something about. And an hour later I run across this blog at FloppingAces … The title of the blog is “Three SEIU Chapters Granted ObamaCare Waivers…Freshmen Republicans Want To Know Why” … and before I clicked on it a thought ran through my mind “I wonder if one of the Freshmen is Trey?”

But there is a new Sheriff in town after November and this kind of behavior will no longer be allowed to be sweeped under the rug. The new Republicans on the Congressional Oversight subcommittee on health want answers on who and why certain organizations are getting waivers to the ObamaCare requirements.

“If there are exemptions,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-S.C.) told The Hill, “what was the process by which those exemptions were sought and given?”

“I think those are fair questions to ask,” he said, “and I expect we will.”

Gowdy, a freshman and former prosecutor, got the chairmanship on Tuesday. The health subcommittee has jurisdiction over federal health policy and food and drug safety, in addition to the District of Columbia and federal records.

A few things stand out for me over the past couple of years as a South Carolinian. Jim DeMint bucking the GOP establishment by helping conservatives get elected across the country, and a few procedural maneuvers he’s accomplished that the GOP leadership didn’t have the guts to do. All the hard work by volunteers and staff to help Mick Mulvaney oust Spratt from District 5. Nikki Haley setting the bar high for courage under fire during her campaign. And I look forward to adding to those moments seeing Trey Gowdy ask those questions of the smug elitists of Obama’s administration, and doing whatever can be done to tear down that regime.

And the thing we can do is call to thank him and encourage him to keep it up, never back down, don’t be “civil” … they are destroying our way of life, and that is not something to allow to pass without the strongest push back possible.

After leading the nation last year in passing a law to sue the federal government over the health care overhaul, Idaho’s Republican-dominated Legislature now plans to use an obscure 18th century doctrine to declare President Barack Obama’s signature bill null and void.

Lawmakers in six other states — Maine, Montana, Oregon, Nebraska, Texas and Wyoming — are also mulling “nullification” bills, which contend states, not the U.S. Supreme Court, are the ultimate arbiter of when Congress and the president run amok.

and …

If the U.S. president, Congress, and the Supreme Court get it wrong, Woods said, then Jefferson had it right back in 1799 when he wrote that states, as creators of the federal government, “being sovereign and independent, have the unquestionable right to judge of its infraction.”

“What do we do when we don’t get proper relief in the court?” Woods told The Associated Press from his home in Auburn, Ala. “We can’t just throw up our hands and say, ‘We tried.’ The creators had to have some way of not having that system destroyed.”

For Idaho’s Pearce, Obama and the Democratic-led Congress are destroying the American system.

“There are now 27 states that are in on the lawsuit against Obamacare,” Pearce said. “What if those 27 states do the same thing we do with nullification? It’s a killer.”

it’s up to the Senate.

Harry Reid has said there will not be a vote in the Senate. In this video, McConnell assures us there will be a vote.

“I want to congratulate our colleagues in the House on this important first step. I hope the Senate will soon follow suit with a vote of its own. The Democratic leadership in the Senate doesn’t want to vote on this bill. But I assure you, we will.”

And in the past few days there have been two widely read articles on how to force the Senate to take this up. This article by Brian Darling at Redstate and this by dclancy at FreedomWorks.

I’ll leave it to you to read them in full.

But, Dick Morris and Eileen McGann question whether the conservatives have enough of a fight left to keep the pressure on. And I’ve wondered also. I don’t hear people talking about how much they’ve called and faxed and emailed their representatives as much as when the battle was hot before passage. I know I haven’t been as active. I do fear complacency … yes they know why we sent them to DC, however, let’s not take anything for granted, that’s how we got here. Educate yourself if you have the head for it on the procedures that the GOP can use to repeal. Explore other options, such as the Health Care Compact I’ve blogged about.

Stay in the fight!

I hope that some members of the Spartanburg Tea Party will want to work on this for South Carolina.
++++++++++++++++

They can join the Health Care Compact page

http://www.facebook.com/pages/Health-Care-Compact/166165180090883

and the South Carolina Tea Party Patriots page

http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001707578690

to keep up on efforts … they can also email Hal Nichols (state coordinate for Tea Party Patriots) directly at scteaparty@gmail.com
or call him directly at 803.632.2818 or 803.824.9043

to express their interest and offer help. I have copies of docs that Hal sent out, a PDF of the actual HCC, some legislative tracking excel sheets and a “to do” list of outreach and tasks needed. Email me if you want them.

ON to my notes:

HCC is a agreement between states that goes to Congress saying “We will handle this ourselves” It does not outline or dictate HOW each state decides to handle healthcare, that is up to the individual state, and each state can decide their own way to handle, the “how” is not outlined in the compact, just the “ourselves” part.

Organizations who have been working on this effort include subject matter expert (SME) attorneys, The Heritage Foundation, Strong America Now, FreedomWorks. 25 states are now currently reviewing this same HCC package and Virginia has moved it into legislation. All states bordering SC are working on this.

The HCC Facebook page above will, in about a week, be “staffed” with attorneys who can help answer specific questions. So immediate tasks for tea party members interested are:

1.	Make your interest AND talents known to Hal
2.	Think about someone to draft the bill (Congressman) and sit down and explain it to them (if you need help Hal can connect you with a SME)
3.	Identify others who will help sponsor the bill
4.	Discuss this with folks in the medical field and get their buy in / involvement

There is a potential press event in the planning, scheduled in the Upstate on May 5 to coincide with the pres debates, please join the FB pages to keep up with details.

Now this is NOT my forte, I’m relying information in hopes that there are some health care warriors out there who determine to find out more and make this their passion.

In addition, Wayne Middle drafted this letter to serve as a template for you to edit and use to communicate with our med profession friends and personal physicians:

“I feel quite certain that both of you, many of your group and lots of “Docs” you know are opposed to government intervention in Health Care. If you agree, I ask your help.

I don’t want to bore you with detail, but must have you read the compact below(4 pages) and share with you the following: There are leaders from 25 states involved in a move under Article I, Section 10 of the US Constitution to form and “Interstate Compact” on Health Care. The “bottom line” for understanding this “compact” process is that the US Congress (without the President’s involvement or approval) has the authority to approve or disapprove of “Interstate Compacts.”

A “compact” is nothing more than an agreement between states to do something together. The history of Interstate Compacts indicates that Congress approves them about 95% of the time. there are thousands in existence. Currently, with half of our nation’s states involved in this move to establish a compact on health care, it is expected the Congress will approve it – effectively ending Federal Control of health care for the states involved in the compact and possibly all stales as the others agree to sign on.

That said, I ask you please do do a couple things.
1.	Read the text of the compact I have embedded and attached as a Word file. This compact (wording just as you read it) is being promoted for approval with this exact language in 25 states. If you have questions, ask me.
2.	Because it is felt the involvement of medical professionals is needed to support this compact, I ask that you agree to support it and to seek support from doctors with whom you are involved on a regular basis. Show them a copy of the Compact, ask them to read it, and ask for their support.
3.	By support, I mean contact your SC State Legislator asking them to adopt the compact. I will agree to compose and provide letters for anyone requesting I do so – that is those not wanting to take the time out of their schedule to do so. The letters would need of course need to be signed by you or your colleagues and sent to the appropriate representatives.
Provide me with contact information for all who agree to participate. Name, Address, Phone Number, in order to compose letters. If they want to do their own, I ask that a copy of the letter they send to also be sent to me (or e:mailed) so I can keep record of which legislator was contacted and by whom. My address is

Some may think that January 2010 may be too early to begin thinking about Presidential candidates, and if you lived in Kentucky or Oregon or Georgia you may have a point. But … this is SC and SC has the distinction of having not only the “first in the South” primary, but we were also awarded the honor of hosting the 2012 Southern Republican Leadership Conference AND the SCGOP will be hosting the first Republican presidential debate in May. So we’ve already seen some hopefuls making appearances in SC … Haley Barbour was at Nikki Haley’s inauguration, Rick Santorum was at this weekend’s March for Life, Newt Gingrich was the speaker at last month’s Spartanburg GOP Bronze Elephant event.

However … both Neil King Jr. of the WSJ and Pollster Extraordinaire Scott Rasmussen contend that it will not be one of the well-known names snagging the GOP nomination.

National pollster Scott Rasmussen told members of the Louisiana Association of Business and Industry that the search is on for a candidate to challenge Barack Obama in 2012. “I have no idea who the Republicans will nominate next year,” the keynote speaker at LABI’s annual meeting said.
He surprised some business leaders by saying “it’s not one of the big names” — Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Tim Pawlenty or Newt Gingrich. Instead, he said it will be someone who hasn’t previously been involved in a national campaign but has some national recognition.

South Carolinians will have an extraordinary opportunity to provide a tipping point for some of these candidates by our responses to and interactions with them while they are visiting our state. Hopefully you feel empowered and excited by that responsibility! To that end … I want to share this video with you of Herman Cain, who has announced the formation of an exploratory committee, as he schools Bill Clinton the last time around on health care. When you begin to see Herman interviewed and spoken about as a potential nominee, know that he had it right on health care way back when.
