SCGOP Resolution Rejecting Obamacare
Based largely on the resolutions that have passed several SC county GOP Executive Committees including Greenville, Charleston, and Berekely, the SCGOP Executive Committee passed this resolution the other night:
A RESOLUTION OF THE SOUTH CAROLINA REPUBLICAN PARTY SUPPORTING
THE REJECTION AND REPEAL OF THE SO CALLED “AFFORDABLE CARE ACT”
Passed February 3, 2013 by unanimous vote of the South Carolina Republican Party State Executive
Committee, Chad Connelly, Chairman.
WHEREAS, the United States was formed by the several states according to the will of
the people; AND
WHEREAS, the form of government that was created was a representative republic and
not a democracy; AND
WHEREAS, the Declaration of Independence recognizes that all power originates from
the people; AND
WHEREAS, the ninth and tenth amendments to the constitution clearly recognize
individual states and the people as retaining all power not delegated to the federal
government; AND
WHEREAS, the Founders never intended the U.S. Supreme Court to be the final arbiter
of the Constitution; AND
WHEREAS, the federal government has never been a party to the compact created by the
states; AND
WHEREAS, the federal government has taken upon itself powers not delegated to it by
the Constitution or prohibited by the Constitution to the states; AND
WHEREAS, in times when a constitutional crisis has arisen, the states have placed
rightful checks and balances on the overreaching authority of the federal government;
AND NOW THEREFORE,
BE IT RESOLVED,
THAT the South Carolina Republican Party believes the “Patient Protection and
Affordable Care Act” is a violation of the enumerated powers of the federal government;
AND
THAT the South Carolina Republican Party believes that the U.S. Supreme Court’s
ruling is inconsistent with the limited powers outlined in the U.S. Constitution; AND
THAT the South Carolina Republican Party hereby endorses and supports all legislation
intended to completely reject and repeal the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act”
in the State of South Carolina; AND
THAT the South Carolina Republican Party fully supports our state legislators as they
defend states’ rights and the Tenth Amendment.

Where was the: Whereas this is for window dressing only and not to be taken seriously by elected officials addendum secreted? With the usual warning that is to be only dragged out and used during the next election cycle and should not be taken seriously by legislative committees unless push comes to shove.

I only wish the SCGOP resolution would have also resolved that the SCGOP fully expects all Republican members of the General Assembly to defend all South Carolinian’s rights by actively promoting and supporting legislation to completely reject and repeal PPACA…

The resolution was designed to be window dressing to prove that the SCGOP is rightly indigent and will only cave after a great show of righteous distain. But they will cave is certain as the coming of their next round reelecton rhetoric.
