District 1 … this is your guy … action please!
Jackie Kucinich writing at Roll Call has an article naming four Republicans who have said they will submit requests for earmarks despite the Republicans’ self-imposed yearlong earmark moratorium. Sadly, SC’s Henry Brown of District 1 is one of those four.
Boehner warned the conference that Members who fail to remove their earmark requests from the bill risk losing their committee assignments next year.
“If you don’t withdraw your requests, it will be a matter for the Steering Committee to consider,” the Ohio Republican told Members during a closed-door meeting of the House Republican Conference last week, according to several GOP sources inside the room.
Sounds like a vague, weak threat. Typically wishy washy from Republican leadership. District 1 … it’s up to you to let Henry Brown know how you feel about his spending.
Oh. And Ron Paul was another of the four, following his pattern of asking for earmarks so he can tell his constituents he’s working for them, while voting against the bills containing those earmark requests to preserve his reputation of small govt/less spending. Ug.
